“For Colored Girls”
It’s not just for colored girls. This one is for ALL girls! This movie was so beautiful. The poetic dialogs, the acting, passion, and hurt these women went through. Us girls, we must stick together. Men can be the kind of evil you know… Don’t you ever, ever let a man take away who you are. Don’t loose yourself for a man NEVER!
My sister and I had the opportunity to enjoy a cooking class series. This particular one that we discovered was focused on Vietnamese Food. Our journey began with a brief history on how Vietnamese migrated over to America and how our food has evolved in the US, especially in Little Saigon. Our first stop was at our local Asian supermarket, Sieu Thi Thuan Phat. Here she introduced us to a large variety of vegetables and other produces which Vietnamese use in there delicious cooking daily.
Afterwards, we came to her restaurant “Xanh Bistro” located in Fountain Valley, Ca. Here Chef Haley, presented us with an exciting cooking demo. Then, Chef Haley and her wonderful staff catered to us with a 4 course meal! First meal, was Rice Paper Spring Rolls with Rice Flake Crusted Shrimp. Followed by an amazing refreshing salad called, Banana Blossom. Next came our main entree, and it was to die for! A White Fish Fillet served over lemongrass jasmine rice, garlic bok choys, and topped with fried shaved yams. Finishing with dessert, was a perfectly baked Chocolate Lava cake with Coconut Creme Brulee….
I must say, this was an awesome experience! Thanks to my sister, Leha for finding this foodie adventure! I can wait for the other cooking class series. We met such a great group of people too. I think next up on the agenda is “Mediterranian” ;D I can’t wait!
This reading is very near and dear to my heart. I helped my sister choose this reading for her wedding ceremony in May of 2007. I think it is a great summation of what defines love.
